Harper Adams University in Shropshire provides high-quality higher education provision that is closely related to the needs of the rural economy and the industries reliant upon it, with a specific commitment to sustainable agriculture, re-establishing connections between food producers and consumers, knowledge transfer to support the rural economy and the international dimension of environmental and food chain sustainability. The University campus includes a 343 ha commercial farm that has dairy, beef, poultry, pig, sheep and arable enterprises along with areas of woodland and conservation. The University also has a tenanted farm of 210 ha of grass and arable. The farm has both Entry Level and Higher Level Stewardship agreements.

In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 100 per cent of the research conducted by the University was assessed to be of international quality and more than 50 per cent either world-leading or internationally excellent.
