LEAF Marque Standard

LEAF Marque is food label consumers and the food industry trust. Developed by LEAF, it is based on environmentally responsible IFM principles, which support you in producing good food, with care and to high environmental standards.

The LEAF Marque Standard is an industry recognised global standard that is currently available in 4 languages: Spanish, French, Italian and English. It is a higher level environmental standard and it is a requirement that the producer is a certified full member of an appropriate assurance scheme for each enterprise on the farm. The LEAF Marque Standard is a list of questions about how you farm and how you manage your farming. For each question there is a control point that you are required to meet in order to qualify for LEAF Marque certification. The questions must be applied to your whole farm.

The standard should be adopted in conjunction with the completion of the LEAF Sustainable Farming Review, which helps you generate action plans, policies and review dates and contains additional reference material.  LEAF farming is about 365 days of the year and NOT the run up to an inspection.

Once you have decided to go down the LEAF Marque route then contact a certification body that is qualified to carry out the independently verified inspection. Inspections must take place annually, – either at the same time as the foundation assurance schemes, or as a stand-alone inspection.

IFM is all about continuous improvement
The LEAF Marque Standard drives change, it stimulates innovation, it motivates.

LEAF Marque Standard v14.1.

The new version of the LEAF Marque Standard has been published and it is now effective (commenced 1st of January 2017). The original version (14.0) has been revised.

Please note that the definitive version for all inspections from 1 January 2017 is version 14.1.

Revising the LEAF Marque Standard provides the opportunity to continually improve the Standard based on experience gained, lessons learned, and input provided during the implementation of the previous Standards (v13.0 and earlier). In addition, as a Full Member of the ISEAL Alliance, LEAF Marque is committed to revising the Standard taking into account feedback during stakeholder consultation.

The first public consultation for v14.0 was in March/April 2016. The second public consultation was in June/July 2016.

LEAF Marque is very grateful to all those involved in the continual development of the LEAF Marque Standard. In particular, we would like to thank the LEAF Marque Technical Advisory Committee.

Following these consultations and some final revision we are proud to announce that the latest English version of the Standard can be found here.

The LEAF Marque Standard has been updated in terms of the style and design and 1 CP (1.12) has been upgraded to Essential (E) previously CFP.

There are 6 new Control Points – 4 around the LEAF Marque Chain of Custody (1.18 – 1.21); 1 on energy optimisation (6.4) and 1 on recording on-farm habitats (8.26).

The LEAF Marque Standard v14.1 is available in French, Spanish and Italian and they are published below. The English version of the Standard is the definitive version and therefore any issues of interpretation from other translations need to be referred to the English version.
